DARE 1/12 LIGHTWEIGHT FIGHT

Dare Fight Sports is proud to present the first Lightweight (70 kilos / 155lbs) fight of the DARE 1/12 event, coming to you Live from Club Insomnia Bangkok and broadcasted on www.darelive.tv and on www.gfl.tv on the 7th of January 2012:

RONIN – Shane Wiggand VS MAD DOG – Marko Huusansaari.

This fight features two veterans who are looking to prove they still have what it takes to compete at an elite level of mixed martial arts. Both are familiar faces in Thailand as Huusansaari from Finland has been competing in both Muay Thai and MMA bouts in the region for several years while Wiggand is a Judo black belt, Muay Thai fighter and a martial arts teacher who has been based in Bangkok for years.

The winner of this fight will proceed to the Quarter-Final level of the DARE Championship and be one step closer to becoming one of the first DARE Champions and the receivers of the 1 Million Dollar Grand Bonus.

ONE MILLION DOLLARS. IN A CAGE. GAME ON.

RONIN – Shane Wiggand (5-10) might not have the most impressive sounding MMA record but it is testament to the fact that he never turns down a fight and has taken on some top class opponents. A veteran of ESPN Star Sports Martial Combat he is no stranger to the big stage and will be very comfortable when he sets foot inside the DARE cage on January 7th. His biggest strength is his Judo where he has a black belt but he is also a fighter with more than 25 Muay Thai fights that works hard on his submissions game.

RONIN will be representing Boxer Rebellion Gym and Q23 BJJ School in his DARE fight:

MAD DOG – Marko Huusansaari (3-2) has fought for the top MMA promotions in China and the Philippines and has also fought Muay Thai at the famous Lumpini stadium in Bangkok. He is currently training at Golden Glory in Pattaya alongside UFC fighter Jon Olav Einemo and will be looking to use his stand up skills to
score an early knock out. With two submission wins to his name MAD DOG is equally comfortable
on the ground and looks to be a well rounded fighter.

Here are the thoughts of veteran MMA journalist James Goyder,

“These two are some of the most experienced all round fighters we have seen at DARE Championships and
they have both seen it all before in their martial arts careers. MAD DOG has faced some top Chinese fighters
but RONIN has also taken on one of the best mixed martial artists in the Philippines and they will both
be very confident going into this contest which I expect will be very close and could even turn into an all
out stand up war if both men decide to test their Muay Thai.”
